End user training programs
We are currently developing courses on Free Software audio, video and 3D applications. Many of the members of CFSG have backgrounds in the arts, so these subjects are a natural fit.
Ideas for some of these workshops include:
3D Fundamentals Project
This course will go over basic concepts applicable to all 3D modeling software. We will use Blender, a powerful and flexible Free Software 3D rendering application. Blender will be the basis for all 3D courses because a comprehensive range of concepts can be demonstrated using this application.
3D Modeling and Character Animation
This program will teach participants how to create and animate three-dimensional cartoon characters.
The Ardour and CFSG Audio Certification Program
A joint project between Ardour Founder and Developer Paul Davis and The Community Free Software Group
Web Development and Publishing
This project will introduce the craft of designing and publishing web sites that are creative, informative, and fast.
Free software means you control what your computer does. Non-free software means someone else controls that, and to some extent controls you. Non-free software keeps users divided and individually helpless; free software empowers the users. All these reasons apply just as well to business users as to individuals.
