GNU/Linux is an operating system and an application suite that allows you to work using a computer. Its license allows you to use, copy and modify the software free of charge, and also to develop your own versions of the software, give them away and also charge money for it, if you like, as long as the recipients get the same rights. Because of these added values GNU/Linux has become widespread and is used virtually everywhere, from embedded systems in multimedia devices, to servers, to end user and office PCs.
